Using the Beaver Builder page builder system, I’m unable to create custom pages using GD shortcodes.
– home page: Deleted the default home page completely
– Created new home page with GD shortcodes and additional builder elements
– Set home page wp reading settings for new home page
– Set GD permalinks for new home page
– Cleared cache. When I go to the site home, it still loads the old default home page with some new content added, but mixed up with the original elements.
Unchecking all sections under DESIGN>HOME>>sections makes no difference…
I’m expecting to be able to build these GD pages with my own builder design and elements and drop in the GD shortcodes where they are required. THis must be possible??
Y0ur advice please?
Thank-you
October 6, 2018 at 1:21 pm #448953Builders cannot be used on any of the template pages with GDV1. They can be used on the template pages with GDV2. GDV1 overwrites all content in the content area in the template pages and in some cases can conflict with content in the content area. V2 is prepared for builder content in the content area.
October 6, 2018 at 3:30 pm #448964Ok, I was not aware of that. In fact when I D/L the plugin, I had only the option of V1.X. I’ve seen there is a conversion for V2.x upgrade. Is the V2.x release stable yet?
this page https://wpgeodirectory.com/try-geodirectory-v2/ indicats not suitable for live sites, plus some of the addons.
I’m using these addons – all V1.x.x
GeoDirectory Advance Search Filters
GeoDirectory Claim Manager
GeoDirectory Dashboard
GeoDirectory Location Manager
GeoDirectory Payment Manager
GeoDirectory Review Rating Manager
InvoicingThanks for the advice on how to proceed Alex.
October 6, 2018 at 8:21 pm #448974It is recommended for testing at this time.
I recommend you give it a try on a fresh install test site with the builder of your choice.
October 8, 2018 at 1:12 pm #449034Ok, thanks for that Alex. What do I need in order to upgrade from V1.6.30 to V2? I have auto easy updates installed with license details in all addons, but no beta updates have arrived. Should I do this manually and Do I need to deactivate GD plugin, addons, and uninstall data first? I ONLY have demo data installed at present on a dev. site.
What’s your recommended update path please?
Thank-you
October 8, 2018 at 1:45 pm #449041For a dev site to test GD without data to be saved, it is not necessary to select any of the uninstall options for an upgrade.
1. Deactivate and delete all GD Addons
2. Deactivate and delete GD core plugin
3. Upload, install, and activate GDV2 core plugin. When GD V2 is activated you will receive a notification that an update script must be run. Run that to perform the upgrade.
4. Upload, install, and activate GDV2 addonsOctober 8, 2018 at 3:00 pm #449060This reply has been marked as private.October 9, 2018 at 12:42 am #4490841. Thanks for catching that, the doc needed an update. It was written before the upgrade script was available. Updated! https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/overview/
2. The update script will only run once for the core plugin. Installation of Addons will not trigger another update script.
3. Shortcodes for GDV2 have changed. You can find them and all their available params in the shortcode builder available on any WP page. https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/shortcode-builder/
4. The page loads OK for me on the frontend. Checking with the pagebuilder.
October 9, 2018 at 12:45 am #449087I can see what you mean there, that the pages goes blank when you click the beaver builder button on the backend. The frontend page loads, then goes white.
I have flagged this for a developer to take a look.
The add listing page is /wp-admin/post.php?post=961&action=edit
October 9, 2018 at 8:20 am #4491051- THanks for the note on shortcodes. I’ll adjust these.
2- Yes, it’s the BB edit action that makes the page go blank. I’ll await your Devs. update or fix for this.
3- on this page https://wpgeodirectory.com/location-manager-v2-beta-initial-release/ It states“V1 to V2 converter. If you install the latest release of the Core GeoDirectory Plugin (V2.0.0.18) on a website that has or had V1 installed, the conversion tool will popup an alert.” That’s why I was expecting a conversion process. (Maybe another doc edit?)
Thank-you.
October 9, 2018 at 9:17 am #449107Further problems with BB and GD shortcodes
Referring to https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/shortcodes/ after V1 to V2 conversion upgrade:
While Buiulding a home page with BB using GD short codes, SEARCH and CATEGORIES appeared to work ok, [gd_search customize_filters=”default”] and
[gd_categories] but listings [gd_listings post_type=”gd_place” sort_by=”az” title_tag=”h3″ layout=”gridview_onefourth” post_limit=”4″ add_location_filter=”1″ category=”0″] caused the following errors:1- On saving the layout, the main top image of the page is lost, plus all the CSS layout. On editing in BB again, it comes back, but then dissapears on saving again.
2- When deleting the gd_listings shortcode as mentioned above, the page still renders listings, even after clearing all caches.
3- I have not tested other shortcodes, but there appears to be some deeper conflict with the Beaver Builder editor, or it’s default theme.October 9, 2018 at 9:46 am #449114Hello,
please provide a link to the page and we will check that out

October 9, 2018 at 11:56 am #449136Hi Richard,
I want to get to the bottom of this and get it all working 100%, would u mind if we setup our own test site and gave u access so we can debug things quicker? If so just let me know and i’ll set it up.
Thanks,
Stiofan
