Random Order with Featured First

    Hi folks

    I can see that there have been quite a few questions in the past about the sort order, but I’m not sure what the current state of play is, so please forgive me asking it again!

    Our client would like to be able to display their listings randomly but with the featured items appearing first. Can you tell me if there is currently a way to achieve this?

    Either they are sorted by featured OR by random.

    Thanks Paolo, I thought it was worth asking the question.

    Do you think this is something that we could ask a developer to customise for us? I see there’s a GeoDirectory Jobs section to the forum – I have a budget for a bit of customisation if it’s achievable.

    The next version of GD will likely include some changes to related functionality.

    I would recommend you look at this again when advanced search filters addon is released for GDV2.

    Hi Emily,

    I’m sorry, but V2 will not allow for anything similar and rather than customizing the sort order of the plugin, I’d ask to a developer to help you place a widget showing X featured listings on top of the regular listings and sort the listings below by random.

    Hi Paolo, thanks for your advice. So the suggestion to wait for V2 was a red herring. I’ll have a look at the widget option.
