Displaying email addresses in the directory is a spam/security risk which we’d overlooked until now. How can I hide the email addresses from displaying in our directory (I still want to collect them via the form and have folks able to contact the places via the “Send Enquiry” function).

Thank you for your excellent support, as always,

    Daniel

    Hi,

that must be something you added, because GD doesn’t show email addresses ever.

    Let us know,

    Thanks

    Hey Paolo,

It is something that we added, or something that we asked a developer to add, more correctly. I was hoping you could point me in the direction of where it would have been added–I guess the question is where does the code live that populates fields to the listings?

    Thank you,

    Daniel

Have a look at your custom fields at GD > Place Settings.
You probably have an extra phone field created there.
Delete that field or de-activate it.

    Thanks

Wouldn’t that remove it from the form, but not from the listing display itself? I want it to remain in the form so that it is collected and the “Send Enquiry” function still works. I just don’t want it to display for any of my listings.

    Thank you,

    Daniel

You should find one email custom field you added, and the default GD email field.
If that is not the case, and you have made customizations to the code itself, then you will have to contact the developer to get them to help.
If you post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply, we can have a look.

I think it must have been custom development, unfortunately.

    Hi again,

we can’t provide support for custom code. You’ll need to ask to whoever did that for you to correct it.

    Thanks
