    Hi,
Is it possible to remove or replace the tags (City) and (Region) which appear in the Near search field? In the UK a place may be a city, town or village – showing a village name with (City) after it doesn’t look right. Similarly, Region could be replaced by ‘County’.
I’d be happy to remove these tags completely, or replace City with ‘Place’ and Region with ‘County’.
I think this may need to be done in php? – I’m not using a Child theme yet and was hoping to avoid it.
I’ve found and resolved most of my questions through this useful forum and the docs, but I’m stumped on this.
Thank you! (very impressed with GD after a just few days of setting it up!)

That can be translated to change it, in the core plugin and the location manager addon.

Thanks for your quick reply Alex – and great to learn something new!
I downloaded and edited the core and location language files using POEdit, uploaded the edited .po files with the newly created .mo files, logged in and out of WP. Unfortunately the translations aren’t appearing on the back end or front end.
I’ve tried placing the files in /wp-content/languages/plugins/ as your link suggests, and also in their original folder – I downloaded the files again to check they had been updated.
I’ve searched the web for an answer but not found anything. Do you have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

Never change the content of the original folders.
You should have these files at
    /wp-content/languages/plugins/geodirlocation-en_AU.po
    /wp-content/languages/plugins/geodirlocation-en_AU.mo
    but in your language.

There is no need to log in or out of WP, but if you are using any caching, you need to flush the cache.

If you are still stuck, post your URL, WP admin and FTP details in a private reply and we will have a look.

    Thanks

You forgot to change the language from en-US to en-GB.
    Please check now.
