Is there an easy way to remove the category slug or will this require custom development work?

My site is vertical-specific rather than geo-specific and I have noticed that the plugin is not quite as friendly to these kinds of site structures.

For example, if I have a restaurant site and want to have different categories of restaurants (Asian, Pizza, Italian, etc). I can get the base URL structure the way I want it (URL.com/restaurants/florida/miami/) but if I want to drive traffic to the “pizza restaurant in Miami” page, I can’t do that without the added /category/ subfolder in the URL (I want URL.com/restaurants/pizza/florida/miami/ instead of URL.com/restaurants/category/pizza/florida/miami/).

Is there any way to get rid of that (/category/)?

    Hi Sean Galusha,

Thanks for your post. You can make adjustments in the permalinks https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/permalinks/#intro . Please backup before you proceed.

GD requires the cat base slug for permalink stability, and removing it requires your own customization.
