    Hi,

I’m having trouble organizing my directory in a way that is easy for my clients and also avoids duplicate content that would harm my SEO. If anyone could help me I would be grateful.

First, some clarification on how I organized the website:

    – the owners of the stores that will fill in the information in the “add listing” form.

-the directory is for two types of stores that sell exactly the same product, the only difference being that in one the products are used and in others they are new.

-these products sold by both types of stores (used and new) are divided by type. Being that for the two stores the types of products are the same.

Now I can tell the problem I’m facing

I’ve created a CPT for each store type (storeNew and storeUsed). And I created categories for product types.

But the way GD is designed, I have to create these same product categories for the two CPTs, which creates duplicate content issues that will affect my SEO.

The problem is even bigger because it gets tricky to optimize the product categories as landing pages for each type of store.

The custom fields for each type of store, I plan to use to highlight amenities like: parking, wi-fi etc.

I would like to ask for suggestions on how I can better organize my directory without adversely affecting SEO.

    Thank you!!

I am not sure i fully follow but could you not just prefix the category with new- or used-, but even if they were the same, what would be the duplicate content? one part of the url?

Yes, because most of the slugs are very similar and also the names of the categories.

Do you think that a simple prefix can fix the problem with duplication?

I’m worried about Google thinking I’m snuffing keywords on the slugs.

    What do you think?

    Thanks!

How will it be duplicate content if its not going to have the same listings, i dont think a similar slug counts.
