    Hi,
I have a user request to be able to search across all the CPT’s at

    https://dev.discoverstmargaretsbay.com/the-directory/

I seem to remember one of your guys saying searches across CPT’s were not possible, suddenly this ability has become a user ‘priority’ 🙂

I thought of one way I could do this, kind of is to create a CPT called ‘Alphabetical’ or ‘All Listings’ then add all the CPT listings to that CPT using a modified csv import! I suspect there is no way to have these listings ‘Alphabetical’ listings linked to the ones in the other CPT’s, is that correct.

So I would then be in a situation where is a user tried to claim there listing in the ‘Alphabetical’ CPT it would be a separate listing to the one in the ‘other’ CPT. Likewise any updates to one would not be reflected in the other.

If that is the case, how much work is involved in creating cross CPT searches?

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for your post. Yes, that’s correct “searches across CPT’s were not possible”. What you’re looking for is a customization to the core files which is very complex. I’d suggest that you reach out a developer here http://geodirectoryexperts.com/ that could give you a better overview of the customization.

    Thanks!

The normal WP search will search across all CPTs, but the results will be very plain …
