Search Bar Width

We are going to hide the CPT selector and would like to increase the width of the search bar fields.
Is this code still applicable for hiding the selector?

Is this code for increasing the width of the search bar fields?

Does the title on the home page banner image dictate the width of the search bar, such that we would have to increase the font size of the title to allow a wider search bar?
