I’m doing a listing site for venues. The venues fall into different categories such as Dining, Party, Team Building, Conference, Meeting Rooms….etc

I want my search to have 3 fields only. 1st – Category, 2nd – Number of people, 3rd Location.

If you go to http://devopsasaservice.co.uk/home2/ you will see the search widget with 2 fields (text search & location) and then I have category and Number of People as custom search options.

Is there any way to configure this so that I just have Category, Number of People and Location as the 3 default search fields?

You can hide the text search with CSS, and set the widget to be “always open”.
That should do what you want I think.

I guess that will prevent me from using other custom fields that are hidden.

I’d like the 3 main fields plus a further 4 that are hidden under customise my search. Anyway of doing this?

If you set the GD search widget to always open, it will show all your custom fields. You cannot leave some hidden and some not.

If you want all of them hidden, just only hide the text search with CSS.

so this is a good example of something similar that I’m looking for – https://www.tagvenue.com

you see their 1st field is Event Type (or Categories), second field is People, third field is Location.

They then have customise my search with a few more options.

Is this possible with Geodirectory? I know it might need a developers help but what are your thoughts?

    Hi,

with the help of a developer, everything is possible, especially if the coder is good! 🙂

    Thanks
