I have created new post types for my site. I no longer want to use the “Place” post type.

I do not appear to have the chance to eliminate “Place” from the search field when I have other post types.

Is there a way to take away the “Place” option? I really want the search to index ALL post types and not just 1 post type at a time.

    See image for clarification.

    HI,

Due to performance consideration, user can search only one posttype at a time.

Rest i will check and update you acordingly.

    Thanks

Will it be possible to select a default post_type for the search field in the next revision of the plugin?

I only want to know if that is coming. In the end, I might have to adapt my needs to the limitations of the plugin.

    Thanks.

This is an interesting point. I have been playing with this myself and having the option to set a default other than place might be a good idea. How big of a performance hit would it be if search searched all post types?

I just renamed “Places” to “Attractions”, rather than deleting the “Places” post type. All works fine.
I really would like the possibility for a visitor to tick the different post types from the ribbon below the map, similarly to ticking the categories in the filter box.
(and also be able to order the custom post types, or at least have them ordered alphabetically, instead of by latest – but maybe I can change the date or order in PHPmyAdmin?)

Regarding the performance issues: if I have 1 post type, 20 categories with 50 listings each, all the 1000 listings will show on the map. But if I have 10 custom type posts, 10 categories for each post type, and 10 listings for each category, then showing the 1000 listings would be a performance issue?
Would allowing a visitor to choose multiple post types from the ribbon, rather than only one at the time, still be a problem?

PS: superb work guys; just wanting to give kudos so you are not getting too sick of all your high maintenance customers 🙂 🙂

    Hi,

GD is designed in such a way that only one post type can be search at atime. Explaining the reason behind it is bit technical.

I will consider ur other point which is related to ordering the custom post type.

Map will work the way it is working right now because category list also get filled when u select one post type.

    Thanks
