search not working for categories in search bar

We have moved to a support ticketing system and our forums are now closed.

    when i select a category or custom field and click search button, all listings are returned and the search/filter is not performed.

    i am using gd version 1.6.37
    i have the advanced filters, custom post types and location manager all installed.
