Search part of word

    Hi
    I wonder if it is possible somehow to search for a part of a word. Example: I have some events with a title or description “Wanderrally”. I thought if I search “rally” then I will get results containing the word “Rally” as well as “Wanderrally” or for example “Rallybla…”. Of course, the autocomplete function shows all entries but if I don’t choose one of the proposals and click on the search button instead, I don’t get the events which don’t contain exactly (and only) “rally”.

    I will send you an example and my login credentials with the next answer.

    Hi Jorge,

    We found searching for the end of words was giving to many fals positives, we only search for
    ( wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘rally’
    OR wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘rally%’
    OR wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘% rally%’

    The autocomplete should not really search for that either,
    I’ll discuss with paolo to see what we want to change.

    I had a look around and most search forms will not search in the last portion of a word.

    I think we’ll have to keep it that way, because doing it differently brings strange results as Stiofan already said.
