    Hi,

When we select a different post type on (for eg,) our homepage http://getaboutable.azurewebsites.net, it takes approximately 10 seconds for the post type to be selected and make it available for search.

Besides that, when conducting a search – the map takes a considerable amount of time to be displayed (a lot longer than the listings displayed next to it).

    Any thoughts on why?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Map load speed can be greatly improved with Marker Clusters and the GD Map cache option in GeoDirectory – Settings – General – General – Show advanced

    Have you already enabled those?

You should also consider using a Hosting that is optimized for WordPress… Microsoft Azure is not.

    Just my 2 cents.

Hi Alex, we’ve tried that and it hasn’t improved speed.

Hi Paolo, as we’ve got a partnership with Microsoft we’re trying to make things work with Azure …

That’s what has the biggest impact on your loading time…

TTFB is extremely high. I would not expect to be able to improve it a lot without going with an appropriate hosting.

    Thanks

    Hi Paolo,

The interesting thing is, the speed of the website is extremely high (and TTFB dropped dramatically) when all plugins are disabled so I don’t think it’s necessarily the hosting. It’s only when all necessary plugins are enabled that the site really slows down. I’m honestly not entirely sure what could be going on here. Any ideas?

That proves my point 100%. The server is good enough to run WP without plugins.

More or less like any shared server on a LAMP Stack too.

If you build a super simple website with WP with few pages, it’ll work just fine. As soon as you add a couple of complex plugins (like e-commerce or a directory system) they start chocking.

They are not built for that purpose. In a decent dedicated server optimized for WordPress (no microsoft), adding major plugins only has an impact of milliseconds.

In 11 years working with WordPress, I’ve never seen a WP powered website running smoothly on a Microsoft server.

That said, I’m going to close this thread because unless you change the server, there is absolutely nothing we can do to help you.

    Thank you,
