    Hi,

i tried to load my site in 5 tabs simultaneously and i was observing the server resources usage through cPanel. I think that they are on the high side, should it be like this? See pic. After the site is loaded it goes back to zero.

I use the GD plugin (+addons) + GD framework + some minor plugins, nothing too heavy on the resources.

I am on a shared hosting (Stablehost) and i tried do this same thing with my other site i host there and i couldnt even get to 5% CPU usage… Because this way if get too much visitors at once i will be slapped by my host.

Is there something wrong or is it normal?

    Hi Guust,

thanks! I tried to play a little with a second test site i have on the server and it looks like the home page map widget does consume a lot of resources, when I switched it off it helped a lot… but i would like to have it there.

Shared hostings provide very little resorces and GD extends wordpress way beyond a simple blog.

It is an extensive application that could work only for moderate concurrent traffic on a shared hosting.

For heavier traffic a decent VPS or a dedicated server will be required.

    Thx

Yeah i thought about it too… if my site will start to grow i will rent a dedicated server no doubt. But i thought it was a little to much that 1 visitor can drain as much as 25% of the CPU in a shared hosting.

Nonetheless thanks again for your help Paolo! 🙂
