hiya, if we want the address to be the proper address it doesnt exactly work with google maps set marker system.

for example, here in mexico they put the number after the street name. And if there is a suite letter, it is attached to the number in a way that google maps wont recognize.

as well, in the state we are in, it is a bit rural, and the google maps doesnt understand where a lot of the towns and street names actually are. Theres also cases where there are two streets with same names and same numbers in same town.

Long story short, we need to be able to custom set the marker and then reset the address field and in some cases town as well. Hitting set marker only works if the address is perfectly set up for google maps, not for people to read.

So we have two work arounds in place and want to run them by support to see what option you think would work best or if either one has potential pitfalls you may be aware of.

    1. force the address and place marker manually and dont tick set marker. we just put in the address you want and you put in the town and then just place marker, it will likely change address after marker is set. just change address and town again and click publish. done. dont play with the marker any more or you have to fix address again. Im not sure if there would be any issues with that method but it seems to get the marker in the right place and puts the correct address on the front end as well.

    2. do the proper address in a different field not associated with the maps at all. then put the address into google map as best we can to make google maps happy. there will still be quite a few cases where we have to do number one because google maps just has no idea where we are talking about.

Thoughts? Considerations? Potential disasters? We’d like to do it right the first time so your insight is much appreciated.

    Hi,

I would have told you exactly what you described in option 1.

    Thanks!
