Show excerpt on list view

Hi
I have linked another cpt to my places but want it to show in list view with an excerpt but its not showing any, just an image and the title.
I have [gd_linked_posts link_type=”to” post_type=”gd_eating_drinking” sort_by=”featured_desc” title_tag=”h3″ layout=”list” character_count=”50″]
but thats not showing any excerpt. How do I get this to show in list view?
