    Hello,

I’m looking for a way to have a single search box, like Google and other search engines.

I found this theme which seems to be compatible with Geo Directory.

Would using this be the best way to achieve it, or do you recommend doing it in a different way?

    Thank you

    HI,

that theme is compatible, but that single field search form isn’t for GeoDIrectory. That is the demo for WooCommerce and it says :

On this demo page you can search for products and portfolio items only.

When used with GeoDirectory it uses our form which has minium 2 fields.

    Thanks

    Hello

I would like it to do what your two search boxes do (general search + location search), but all in one box.

    Would this work?

Are there any addons or plugins for this, as an alternative to buying a whole theme?

    Thank you

    Hi,

that’s not possible. Otherwise we would have done it in the 1st place.

To be able to search for Place in Location you must have 2 fields.

    Thanks

Looking at one of the websites on your showcase.

It looks like they have managed to achieve this somehow:

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/budo-finder/

    (e.g search “aikido berlin”)

    Hi,

that a regular WP search form : https://budofinder.com/?s=aikido+berlin

It’s not using GD. It will return also result for blog posts and pages and will not set locations and results don’t have any directory details (reviews, pinpoint, favorites nor maps).

    Thanks

    OK I understand.

So the results wouldn’t be accurate like with the GD search form divided in two sections.

    Thank you

P.S. Sorry I originally attached a screenshot of the Amazon search form to show you an alternative and I forgot to take it off. I realised that even doing it like Amazon would still be limited to selecting categories, while I think your form will also scan descriptions etc.
