I am getting the “Something went wrong” message when trying to connect the app. Although I managed to get an App ID and App Secret code with a live app on Facebook, the setup instructions were quite different than what you have on this website. Thanks for your help.

Facebook has changed the looks of their developer site a bit, but he process is still the same.
Most likely you missed something: contact email, set it public, domain name, exact site URL etc

Post a few screenshots of your settings at FB [in a private reply], then we might be able to identify the issue.

    Thanks

    It needs to be public

That was one of the things I tried and I still got the same message this time. I will try a new app with that setting on from the start.

Your URL is not a HTTPS but HTTP
    Try changing that.

I changed the Facebook setting to a non secure url. I have SSL but just to make sure I turned it off on the admin side and it was never forced on the front end. Still getting the “Something went wrong” Message.

There is little we can do without FB access, but post your URL and WP admin details and maybe one of the other support staff can spot the problem.

Your facebook app ID and the app ID in your settings are not the same?

I created a new app since the last screenshot. They are the same. Do you need another screenshot?

Do you get any sort of error message when clicking authorize?
