    I find it hard to believe that basic email authentication via a confirmation link isn’t required for user registration/activation. How can this be?

    Hi,

    we did it this way to make it easy for users to submit listing and incentivate user generated content. With the re-captcha add-on you should be safe from most automated spamming techniques.

    If you don’t like it that way, you can use a different login/register page that offers email authentication via a confirmation link.

    You can easily redirect GD signup page to any page:
