Splitting Events/Classes

Hi,
Probably a daft question but here goes anyway – Is it possible to have two calendars running on the directory? Have lots of events listed (sales, quizzes, music, theatre etc.) and don’t want this events calendar to be overrun with keep fit classes and the like but would really like to be able to list these in some way. I guess I could use a CPT for them but would be unable to enter recurring dates unless I’ve missed anything?
Have you got any suggestions or have I missed something obvious?
