It looks like a German translation is available here:
    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/geodirectory/stable/de/default/

However, I don’t know how to implement it with my GeoDirectory installation.

Is there somewhere a description of the necessary steps to apply the German translation? Which files have to be downloaded and can I simply copy them to the server? Where to?

    Go to

Settings –> General –> Site Language

    Change to your language

WordPress will automatically download the translations available from wordpress.org

To translate premium plugins please see:

Thanks Alex, however: I’ve already done the switch to German, for site language and admin as well, cleared caches and restarted the server: GeoDirectory is still in English, on front-end and on back-end.

So how exactly can the user interface be switched to German? It is said that the plugin is 100% translated in German, so where is this German?

Make sure you also have your user account set to German.

The core GD plugin translation is hosted on wp.org

Other addons can be translated as described here:

    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/translation/overview/

SOLVED: I had the site language set to Swiss German (de_CH) instead of just German (de_DE). After changing this, the plugin appears in German now.
