This really looks bad and never renders nicely.

How do I stop the image(generated from the featured image) that shows on the post lists page from cropping to 300×100. this is very annoying as no images I create are this dimension.

It does not just make the image smaller but instead it covers the top and bottom of the image.
most good images have a ratio of 4×3 or 16×9. As a result my posts page looks horrible.

I am using the basic Child Theme from the main Geo Directory Theme.

i have attached a screenshot of what is happening and then another screenshot of how I would like to make it look. I cannot seem to change the CSS to correct this issue.

    Hello,

there are several settings to consider.

Adjust file sizes in GD > Design > Detail

The size of the image used in listings at GD > Design > Listings

Adjust the WordPress media settings at WP > Settings > Media

    Recommended settings are here: https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-design/#listings
