Sub Categories do not show up on the main map legend

    Hey

    Just wondering, on my map my code is and the problem is sub-categories do not show up on the map legend as shown in my attachment, it only shows the first level categories, is this standard behaviour ?

    also my map code is

    [gd_map width=”100%” height=”425px” maptype=”ROADMAP” zoom=”0″ map_type=”directory” post_settings=”1″ search_filter=”1″ post_type_filter=”2″ child_collapse=”false” cat_filter=”1″ post_type=”gd_communities” max_level=3]

    Is this ok are there any errors here, its hard to find info on what can be done via gd_map with geodirectory V2 and I noticed a couple of options in my code are mentioned nowhere?

    Ok for some reason I have sub categories showing now on the map! lol
    so all good, however if someone could check my above code id be thankful 🙂

    Update: lol
    Ive just found that I can only see a sub category show up on this legend only IF I have the parent and child category selected in the listing, otherwise it will not show up a listing that has a sub category selected only on the legend, is there a way around this ?

    You must have a parent category if you have a sub-category, that is how WordPress works.

    Thanks, thats good and it does have a category and sub category
    I have Intentional community and the sub of Spiritual but my listing only shows up IF I select both Intentional Community, if I select Spiritual sub category in the listing only it will not show up in legend.
    So being able to select ONLY the sub category in a listing does not make sence if it will only show on the map if you select the coresponding main category.

    As an example just to make sure iv’e explained this right my only listing here
    https://awakening.earth/
    Shows up on the map and is in the sub category of Intentional community called spiritual shows on the map but the legend shows nothing at all without a parent category selected in the listing.

    So as long as this is all working correctly as you say this is how wordpress works then there is no point me using sub cateogires on this site as they will only show up in legend if someone lists themselves under the child AND/OR parent category only.

    WordPress will only work correctly if a listing has a parent category, and/or a sub-category.

    OK guust thanks so my sub category at least shows on the map but in the legend sub category alone will show nothing at all on the legend area.

    Thanks for the help I’ll stick to just using the main categories 🙂
