Any documentation on THEME COMPATABILITY SETTINGS?
    What should I do for:
    1. Select Theme Compatibility Pack?
    2. I’m interested in the Supreme Directory. I read Supreme Directory is a child theme of Directory Starter.
    3. Do I select the Directory Starter Theme?
    4. Do you Export or Import after selecting the Theme Compatibility Pack?

If you use the directory starter then there is nothing to do in the compatibility settings.
Those settings only need to be edited if you are using a theme for which there is no compatibility set yet.

What do you think is wrong?
You are using Avada with an Avada child theme, so I am not sure what needs checking.

Bit confused by what you replied???
You said “if I use the directory starter then there is nothing to do in the compatibility settings”.
    1. Should I select the “directory starter” from the drop-down or leave it at Avada?
I want to use the Supreme Directory as a Theme….

You would first need to upload Directory Starter theme, and then the Supreme theme.
    Then activate the Supreme theme.
The compatibility settings should self adjust, or you can set to Directory Starter.

I think you try to upload themes as plugins and vice versa.
I had no problem uploading and activating Supreme (using Chrome, but that is not the issue I think).

    Hi,

I just installed the Payment manager add-on without problems.

Make sure you install Themes as Themes and Plugins as Plugins.

Let us know if you are still confused.

    Thanks

I guess I am confused and I have read your instructions several timmes (3-4 times).
I don’t recall reading the difference between Themes plug-ins and plugins????
I did the following per intsrctions:
    1. Downloaded all your plugins,
    2. and then went to my WP site and tried to add them one by one.

So I guess I am confused!
This is not as easy as it looked!
I’m a “follow each step” kind of guy I follow the steps… if there is something that is not addressed I do not know it and hence don’t do it….

How do I know which “plug-ins” are Themes and which are plugins? Confsuing!

    Hi,

the difference between a theme and a plugin should be something you know when using WordPress.

    Please see: http://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/5513/difference-between-a-theme-and-a-plugin

    These are themes: https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/category/themes/

    These are plugins: https://wpgeodirectory.com/downloads/category/addons/

    Thank you,

    Paolo,
    1. The Directory Starter does not install. See message> Installing Plugin from uploaded file: directory-starter.1.0.1.zip
    Unpacking the package…
    Installing the plugin…
The package could not be installed. No valid plugins were found.
    Plugin install failed.

    2. The Supreme Directory Theme was installed I guess as a plug-in because I just read the intsrctions on installing the Supreme Directory and its says to “Search for GeoDirectory – Ultimate Business Directory:.
I never did this. I entered “Ultimate Business Directory” in the search and nothing showed up.
I guess I added it as a plug-in? Is this Supreme Directory refered above different from what I have installed?

You can see that I am confused. I need some help otherwise I will need to cancel.

Also, I want to keep my original Hispanic Latino Calendar.
I thought that by creating a page for the Supreme Directory and adding it to my menu upon clicking the tab GD City Guides I would then land on the Supreme Directory theme.
    Is this possible or no?

    1) Directory starter is a theme and you are trying to install it as a plugin. (I sent you the list of what it is a plugin and what a theme…)

    2) impossible, Supreme directory can only be installed as a theme.

That step in the docuementation is about installing the GeoDirectory plugin.

Let us know if this is finally clear.

Please see my earlier post at https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/theme-compatability-settings/#post-152641
I already have installed and activated Supreme for you since that seemed to be what you wanted.
You can only have ONE theme active, it is the way the site LOOKS.
Go to Appearance > Themes and you will see what themes are available and which one is active.

Plugins allow your site to DO things. You can have many plugins.
There is a different section in your admin for that, below “Appearance”.
