Hi Paolo,
it looks like Anthony Legrand has overwritten my work? 🙂
I’m interested in your offer and ready to jump in when possibleThank you,
PatFebruary 4, 2018 at 1:13 pm #415876Hi Pat,
Sorry if it’s the case, but the translation link wasn’t complete thursday when I’ve downloaded it.
Did I worked for nothing ?February 4, 2018 at 1:18 pm #415878Hi Anthony,
no i think you uploaded it on WordPress (new translation place)? and i did it in GD old translation platform
February 4, 2018 at 1:20 pm #415879I did it where Paolo asked to do it :
We’ll give a auto-renewing free membership to whoever translate 1st here: https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/fr/default/wp-plugins/geodirectory where is moderated by French speaking individuals (readme.txt included). [obviously this is valid for french or any other language]
February 4, 2018 at 1:23 pm #415880ok no problem then, i uploaded on GD site (old way) before reading about the new repository on wordpress.org

February 5, 2018 at 10:20 am #415993Hi !
Could we get some info on this subject ?
It seems both of us, Pat and I translated the core, but not at the same place.
So in order to clarify the situation could you take a look Paolo and tell us your decision ?
Pat, maybe we could get a plan for both of us and team up to maintain properly GD for the french version ? 😉 That would be Rockstar !
Cheers,
AnthonyFebruary 5, 2018 at 4:44 pm #416100Hi Anthony,
i’m a fair player and will let the team decide what they like to do, i have not uploaded on wordpress.org just for that reason, i didnt even know there was a lifetime account to get before Paolo did mention it…but i agree on your offer if thats ok for the team
Best regards,
PatFebruary 5, 2018 at 5:04 pm #416106Yeah thank you Pat, for the moment I would like an answer just to know if I have to pay to get started 😉
February 5, 2018 at 5:54 pm #416112Anthony, I still only see 3 languages translated here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/
You need to get it approved 1st and you’ll need to translate the readme.txt too.
Maybe the message wasn’t clear?
February 5, 2018 at 5:59 pm #416114If anyone wanting to put in a translation gets in touch with a WordPress language team or team member or puts in a request about a GD translation, please add the following tags for myself (Alex) and Ismi
Wordpress.org and WordPress Slack usernames.
@alexrollin
@ismiainiAdd these users to the conversation/request Whether it is on WordPress Slack or WordPress Make. We will try to help you get your translations approved, but we can’t help if you don’t add/tag us. There is, in fact, no need to post to this thread because we are available in Slack.
Once your translation is validated and published, message us on Slack and we will check it and notify Paolo.
Again: If you run into any issues, or are making a request to the WordPress translation team along the way, message us both on WordPress slack so we can be aware of it.
Thanks
February 5, 2018 at 7:46 pm #416139So finally Patripat reuploaded the file with more sentences translated.
Could you clarify the situation please because it seems unfair if I stress things up and don’t get the reward.
Because it seems that we are competing each other I don’t want to loose my time.
Sorry to be direct but I’ve started the translation because there was no clue of Patripat doing the work.
I can translate, and re-upload the file and so on and on…February 5, 2018 at 7:58 pm #416144To be 100% sure to get the prize, you need to get in touch to whoever is the moderator of your language on wordpress.org and work with him/her to validate your translation.
It’s not an easy process that involves commitment and time. That is what we require, commitment to translate, update and maintain a good translation over the time.
For that we provide free membership (for as long as we see commitment).
In my case, the Italian moderators are making me moderator too, but it’s been over 2 weeks since I’ve submitted my translation.
Once you are moderator you will see both your translation and other translations submitted. Once you validate one, the other are dropped and deleted.
Are you willing to go that far? Because that is what we are looking for. Is Patrick willing to go that far? I’m not sure…
If you are holding a project waiting to get the free membership, maybe it’s not a good idea.
February 5, 2018 at 8:01 pm #416146Paolo made things clear.
This forum is not here for the purpose of making ‘claims’ on translations.
What we hope to see here are messages that a new language is available on the plugin, but that announcement should comes after all the not-insignificant effort takes place to get the translations submitted and validated with the WordPress #polyglots, after which the language becomes available.
Thanks for your understanding
