Hello Support Team,
I’m trying to translate/change some permalink parts and I have some questions how to change them or how to better understand them:
1. mysite.de/author/autorname
How to translate author to autor ?2. mysite.de/alle-lehrerinnen/page/1/
mysite.de/kursorte/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/yogakurse/page/2/
mysite.de/kursorte/yogakurse/kundalini-yoga-kurs/page/3/
How to translate page to seite3. mysite.de/events/tags/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/beilstein/meditation-2/
mysite.de/kursorte/tags/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/beilstein/yoga-am-abend/
How to translate tags to schlagwoerter ?4. mysite.de/meine-profilseite/akalbodh-kaur/listings
How to translate listings to eintraege ?Better understanding of permalinks
5. Even when I set the permalink for a listing without country just with the /region/city/ part, when it comes to categories the country is part of the permalink too. Is this a bug or is this the wished behavior?
mysite.de/events/workshops (cpt + category)
mysite.de/events/baden-wuerttemberg/beilstein/workshops/gong-meditation-2/ (listing)
mysite.de/events/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/beilstein/workshops/ (location Beilstein + category)
mysite.de/events/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/workshops/ (region + category)mysite.de/kursorte/ausbildungen/yogalehrerin-ausbildung-stufe-1/ (cpt + category Level 1 & 2)
mysite.de/kursorte/baden-wuerttemberg/oppenau/ausbildungen/yogalehrerschule-satpad/ (listing)
mysiteg.de/kursorte/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/oppenau/ausbildungen/yogalehrerin-ausbildung-stufe-1/ (location Oppenau + category Level 1 & 2)
mysite.de/kursorte/deutschland/baden-wuerttemberg/ausbildungen/yogalehrerin-ausbildung-stufe-1/ (region + category Level 1 & 2)July 20, 2018 at 2:14 pm #4391921. Use https://userswp.io/ or try https://wordpress.org/plugins/edit-author-slug/
With https://userswp.io/ you can use any slug for the author/profile page.2. Will ask a developer to answer.
3. Will ask a developer to answer.
4. Not sure what plugin is creating that page. See also #1.
5. The “location in URL” settings are only for individual listings.
It would be useful if you post your URL and WP admin details in a private reply, then we can give better answers.
Thanks
July 20, 2018 at 2:40 pm #439204I don’t think 2 or 3 are possible in v1 at the moment. v2 u can change the tags in the permalinks settigns.

1. and 4. I do use UsersWP and the author pages created with the profile page do have the same slug as it is set in the profile page. When I scrape all the links from the site I still have for each user a link with the author slug. For the user autorname I have the following links:
mysite.de/author/autorname/
and the links generated with UsersWP:
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings/
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings/events
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings/events/
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings/kursorte
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings/kursorte/
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/reviews
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/reviews/
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/reviews/events
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/reviews/events/
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/reviews/kursorte
mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/reviews/kursorte/As you see the tabs listings and reviews are in English.
Do I miss a part of translation (some strings in the UsersWP backend and the WordPress backend menu of UsersWP are still in English)? The GeoDirectory add-on it is now part of the core, does it have its own translation file? I could not find the PO-file under the plugin files. And I’m not sure if I know the link to the translation files of UsersWP add-ons, at least I did not save it as a bookmark.
So, do I have to change the author with the plugin Edit Author Slug?
Thank you Guust
2. and 3. OK, after the upgrade I have to think to create 301-redirects 🙂
Thank you for the help

ThanksJuly 24, 2018 at 11:32 am #439530Thank you @guust for your answer,
do you know more about this?
Where can I find the translation file for the UsersWP add-on GeoDirectory? I suppose that there is an untranslated translation file of the add-on, which is now integrated in the core.
Thank you, Marius
July 24, 2018 at 11:53 am #439535The GD part of UsersWP is now inside the core of the UsersWP core language file.
ThanksJuly 24, 2018 at 11:59 am #439536This means, the problem is somewhere else, since I have translated all the UsersWP strings.
OK, I do wait for a solution for the untranslated links created with UsersWP and I’ll very appreciate a solution for it, Thanks
July 24, 2018 at 12:06 pm #439538So, very important for my actual work are actually
1. with the author slug, if this is a bug or if there is a work around for it or it should be like that and if i have to use the recommended plugin.
and
4. how to translate slugs like listings, reviews – generated by UsersWP?
I really appreciate your answers, Thank you
July 24, 2018 at 12:11 pm #439539Have you updated your language file with the latest UsersWP language file?
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/updating-your-language-files/I’ll let Patrik answer your other questions.
July 24, 2018 at 12:28 pm #439544Do we have another newer language file as the official here: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/userswp/stable/de/default ?
The file userswp-de_DE.po is downloaded and updated automatically by WP and contains 564 strings at the moment.
July 24, 2018 at 12:51 pm #439555The most current language file at /wp-content/plugins/userswp/languages contains 570 strings.
Unless you are happy using all the default translations, your better option is to update using the process explained at https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/updating-your-language-files/July 24, 2018 at 1:30 pm #439566Hi Marius,
Regarding #1, #2 and #3 are part of core WordPress. You can try following code in the functions.php file of the currently active theme:
function re_rewrite_rules() { global $wp_rewrite; $wp_rewrite->author_base = 'autor'; $wp_rewrite->pagination_base = 'seite'; } add_action('init', 're_rewrite_rules');
You will need to reset the permalink from Settings->permalink. Let me know if it works or not.
#5: You have to make the required settings in Geodirectory->Permalinks page. Single listing permalink handled from GD > Permalinks Section, archive URLs like location + categories or location + CPT managed from GD > Locations settings and for archive URLs country/region only hidden from URLs when there is default country or default regions enabled
Regards,
PatrikJuly 25, 2018 at 10:05 am #439693Thank you so much for the solutions 🙂
1. author has changed with your code to autor
2. page has changed with your code to seite
3. As for tags (slug in plural) I could not find a solution. I’ve changed the slugs under WP/Settings/Permalinks, but they are for singular and not used. I think this is used in plural by GeoDirectory. It is not so important by now, I’ll upgrade the project anyway to v2 and I’ll change the tags slug with v2 and set the 301-redirects for the search engines.
4. This is true and I thought the most current translation file is to find on translate.wordpress.org (I’ve compared also the GeoDirectory core translation files and there are differences between the plugin file (2063 strings) and the automatically updated file from translate.wordpress.org (2069 strings)). But this is strange, because it should be the same, since I can download the last version from WordPress or am I wrong? Maybe I have to check with the translation team, if the file update process on translate.wordpress.org is working without errors. What do you think about that?
After updating the file from the plugin file userswp-us_US.po I’ve got 36 missing or changed or identical strings (most of them). Some of them are with errors, like incomplete original strings:
Click on any box below to add a field of that type on

Enter Profile Banner max file size in Kb. e.g. 512 for 512 kb, 1024 for 1 Mb, 2048 for 2 Mb etc. If empty WordPress default (<b>
they should be like:
Click on any box below to add a field of that type on account form. You must be use a fieldset to group your fields.
Click to expand and view field related settings. You may drag and drop to arrange fields order on account form too.
Enter Profile Avatar max file size in Kb. e.g. 512 for 512 kb, 1024 for 1 Mb, 2048 for 2 Mb etc. If empty WordPress default (32768) will be used.
Enter Profile Banner max file size in Kb. e.g. 512 for 512 kb, 1024 for 1 Mb, 2048 for 2 Mb etc. If empty WordPress default (32768) will be used.
Unfortunately there is no change after translating the 36 strings and replacing the file and deleting the browser cache. There are still the same strings in use, nothing changed. Even the main backend menu for UsersWP did not changed and it is still in English. I’m out of ideas to this problem.
And the slugs listings as in mysite.de/lehrer/autorname/listings is still the same. I need a solution for this, please help.
5. Thank you, I have forgotten that option under the MultiLocations settings. Now the links are created without country slug.
Well, we have found out that we have differences between the plugin translation files and the translate.wordpress.org files. We have to find out why.
