Hi, great support here. Surprisingly good… thanks.

My directory will list businesses in our field and events, auctions, and retail sales globally. We don’t need maps, but I’d like users to be able to search by distance and set a home location.

Will GD do that? If so, how do I set it up please? I just installed V2 and I can’t find out where to disable maps and don’t know what will happen if I do.

Also: I’m trying to change the email footer but I can’t edit our name-GD text.

    Thanks,

    Steve

You will need to use addresses but can hide/remove all maps. Users never can set a home location, but your website can geo-locate your users.
Do not use Supreme if you want to hide the maps, Supreme is built for using maps.

Not sure what you mean with “email footer”.

    Thanks

    Hi Guust,

Thank you. I’m integrating GD into Elegant Themes Extra theme.

Do I hide or remove the maps using CSS or are there settings? If code, can you provide it?

How much do maps slow down display? If not much I can place maps at the bottom of the listing on all devices. This just occurred to me: If I’m using Google Maps, does it open its app on phones?

Regarding “email footer”: GD has settings to modify the emails it sends out. There is automatically a footer that says site name and GeoDirectory. It’s in a text box that looks like it’s editable but I can’t enter anything in it. Not a big deal.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi,

all maps are widgets that can be removed via Appearance > Widgets.

The only map that is not, is in the detail page as a tab. Any tab can be hidden via GeoDirectory > Design > Detail > Exclude selected tabs from detail page

    Thanks

In V2 look at the content of the template pages, and adjust the shortcodes to remove the maps.
They may be added as widgets too.

In V2 to turn off the Map tab, go: Places > Settings > Tabs tab > and remove the Map tab.

PS: please post any new V2 questions in the correct V2 sub-forum. Thanks
