Upcoming events - limit recurring ones to one instance

Is it possible using the upcoming events shortcode to limit the instances of recurring events? I am trying to show the next 5 upcoming events as a preview on my home page. I would like these 5 to be unique ones, but if some events are on consecutive days it puts them both in. See towards the bottom of my page here: https://cornwallforgardeners.co.uk/

At the moment the shortcode is: [gd_event_listing layout=5 post_number=5 list_sort=upcoming list_filter=upcoming title=”Upcoming Events in the Cornwall For Gardeners Calendar”]
