Hi Stiofan,
[I’ve just got up, and am about to leave for work]
Yes, the reason we want to set our own locations is because of the way New Zealand is defined by it’s regions. We have a total population of less than 5 million, and actually don’t have that many ‘cities’.
If you look at the attached file you will see that for the Region ‘Bay of Plenty’ we have defined 5 ‘Districts’ [rather than Cities]. Only two of these Districts are actually cities [Tauranga and Rotorua], the rest are areas made up of townships.
If you look at ‘Auckland’, which is New Zealand’s major city, it is broken up into a lot of smaller Districts, to have all the Auckland listings defined under ‘Auckland’ would just give too many results – it would be cumbersome and not user friendly at all.
We need a method that is consistent for users no matter what area they are searching within New Zealand, and defining by Regions and Districts we believe is best.
We want users to search based on these Districts, rather than the Cities or Town’s as the catchment of listings makes more sense from a structured end-user point of view.
What sort of Functionality do we lose if we define our own Regions and Cities/Districts?
Hoping we can find a workable solution 🙂
