Hi, I’m having some trouble uploading my csv file, and I’m not sure if it because I have the data in the right field’s, also if I am uploading a csv file with address, do I also need latitude and Longitude for the listing?
June 17, 2019 at 2:56 am #493300Create at least one listing from the frontend or backend. Then export your CSV.
That will show you how to add your data.
You don’t need latitude and longitude if your addresses are correct and your Google API is set up.
Unless you are using the Location Manager, all your listings need to be in the same city.
ThanksJune 17, 2019 at 10:19 pm #493498Yes I have my Google API, but it’s still asking me for the long lat information, I have the free version atm, and I know it’s just for one City, but does that include suburbs of that City?
June 17, 2019 at 11:01 pm #493503I am also receiving this message when I try to click on the set address on maps in add new place after I have put the address in. (Cannot determine address at this location)?
June 17, 2019 at 11:05 pm #493504I have this message also coming up (Location detection not supported in browser), is this something to do with my hosting?
June 17, 2019 at 11:19 pm #493505Locations are based on the Google Maps API, and the size of cities (towns, suburbs or villages etc depending on the country) can vary greatly from country to country. If Google treats a suburb as a different location [like it does in Australia for example], you will need the Location Manager.
https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/definitions/#locationGeocoding on import does not always work, for example if an address is not recognized by Google.
I am not 100% sure if the free version geocodes, but you also need to make sure you added the geocoding API to your Google key.
I’ll get a developer to look at this question too. Thanks

You need the location manager because of Google’s way of treating suburbs as cities.
Only published listings will be found on the map.
I set one of them to published so that works now.You can only upload listings in your default location unless you have the location manager.
Thanks
July 8, 2019 at 9:35 pm #496721Hi Guust,
Ok, so should I remove the City column and just keep the suburb column, or make the suburbs column the City column because at the moment I have a city column and then I have the suburbs of that city in a different column in the csv file?July 8, 2019 at 10:16 pm #496725You must use the same columns as the CSV file you export, and you can’t change the order.
Google treats cities and towns and suburbs as different locations/cities, so unless you have the Location Manager installed you can only import listing in your default location which is Brisbane for the moment. There’s no difference between cities or suburbs or towns for Google.
So unless you have the Location Manager installed you can’t import listings for Paddington or South Brisbane or Spring Hill for example, only in your default location, Brisbane. -
