    Greetings,

I understand that I’m not a paid user, however I was hoping for a random act of kindness in someone possibly a quick question.

Problem: I have created a new WordPress instance, and have installed the latest GeoDirectory add-on. I’ve generated new “place” listing for a dental clinic based in San Jose, Costa Rica.

I can set the lat-long coordinates that I’m given via looking the business up on Google Maps and extracting the lat long from the URL.

However, when asked to “Set Address to Map”, I receive an error message stating something to the effect, “Please select address for this (San Jose) only”.

The issue is that I have no actual street address to modify the search parameters.

Note that in Costa Rica, they use distances from landmarks (not street addresses) to guide taxis, delivery trucks, emergency services, police, and, of course, postmen.

So instead of using something that looks like this:

    ABC Dental Clinic
    1234 Elm Street. Suite 123
    Seattle WA, 98102

their system looks something like this:

    ABC Dental Clinic
ABC Plaza, Queen Anne district, 150 meters west of a McDonald’s
Barrio (neighborhood name) El Carmen de Paso Ancho, de la Iglesia de San Cayetano (some that is close to) 200 mts al Sur (200 feet south) y 50 mts al Este (and 50 feet East) San José, Costa Rica.

Question: is there a simple way that a “Place” can use it’s lat-long as the “Address”? i.e. I don’t need to add a street address in order to “Set to Map”, and instead rely on the lat-long instead?

Otherwise, I have no way of using any of the features, paid or otherwise, and I’d like to find a solution prior to throwing down $$$ to purchase the theme.

Hope this makes sense. Personally, I am of the opinion that whomever came up with this system should be tarred and feathered (to put it politely.).

Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks all..

    Regards,
    Mike

Firstly, you do not have to be a paid member to get support for the free core GD plugin.
I guess your default location is set to Costa Rica – San Jose region – San Jose city.
That means that with the free version you can add any San Jose city listings.
To add a listing, just drag the map marker to the right spot on the map, zoom in if you need to. That will automatically pick up the address from Google and set the lat and lng of the marker.
    I hope I made sense too 🙂
