    This is the standard detail page URL structure:

    domain/CPT-slug/country-slug/region-slug/city-slug/category-slug/listing-title-slug

    You can remove any part of the location references, depending on your Location Manager Settings:
    https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-permalinks/#location
    You cannot remove the country part, if your site has listings in more than your default country.

    You can remove the category part.

    The minimum is domain/CPT-slug/listing-title-slug

    Best practice is to keep slugs similar or same as the category or CPT name.

    Trying to change the ‘places’ cpt slug and it keeps reverting back to what it was.

    You need to change the CPT slug:
    GD > Custom Post Types > Places CPT > Edit.

    Do I need to change ‘listing url prefix’ under permalinks also?

    Keep trying in cpt edit section but it reverts back once i save in GD permalinks.

    No, just leave that setting. That is only there if you do not use the CPT addon.

    You cannot change the post type, you can change the rest, see image
