Weirdness with Search widget in firefox, all of a sudden

I am using the search widget on home page right sidebar. For weeks now, there has been no default city showing, it has been showing NEAR with white bg. I have been able to view all listings, in the few cities I have listed in the various CPTs. Great, exactly how I would like it to be.

All of a sudden I notice that there is a turquoise bg in this field, showing my main city. Now, no matter what I do, I can no longer see listings outside of this city. Even if I click on the CPT in the breadcrumbs, it will still show this city. if I delete the city in the NEAR field, it returns.

I am seeing this in Firefox, the browser I use most developing this site (logged in or out). It is not doing this on my iPhone. It is not doing it in Chrome.

things I have done. I cleared the cache (Firefox), I updated the plugins, I cleared GD versions.

Any ideas?
