    Hi,

I am trying to setup Stripe to take payment in a recurring manner.

Basically, I want to allow businesses to add their listing for 1,3,6,and 12 month package options.

If a user say selects a 6 month package and I set the payment to recurring every month for unlimited time so it never expires, what happens if the user cancels the subscription at month number 3 lets say?

Question 1: is there a way to stop a user from cancelling the subscription before the 6 months? if so, how?

questions 2: if we cannot stop that, how can I make sure Stripe helps to ensure they are charged for the remaining 3 months in their 6 month subscription?

I ask these questions because it seems anyone can just cancel or delete their listing without a problem. If I have a recurring payment EVERY MONTH and the user goes to Stripe and somehow cancels after the third month, I basically have no way to still take payment for the remaining three months.

Please help to explain how Stripe works with our geodirectory site when users try to cancel a listing before their contract subscription.

    Looking forward to your response.

    1. You cannot prevent a user from cancelling.

    2. There is nothing you can do, the user is the payer and if they want to stop paying, they can.

If they stop payment early, the listing will go to draft at the first time your site tries to get payment from Stripe.

I do not understand what you mean with “1,3,6,and 12 month package and I set the payment to recurring every month for unlimited time so it never expires” though. If it is only 6 months etc, then how can you take payment unlimited times? That is not a 1,3,6,and 12 month package then, but a permanent package as long it is paid for every month. Or it is a 6 months package and payment will be taken 6 times monthly, and then the listing expires.

    Hopefully that is clearer.

    1. At this time subscriptions cannot be canceled from your website. A customer cannot cancel them from Stripe either (they can if using PayPal).
Stripe will not stop taking payments if a listing is deleted.

    2. With Stripe, the only way for the moment to cancel is for customers to contact you, and request cancellation. If your terms do not allow cancellation, then you can refuse.

    Thanks

    Hi Javier,

FYI in next coming release we have upgraded subscription functionality. So both user and site admin can cancel Stripe subscription from website.
For user there will be a page where all the subscriptions listed and from this page user can cancel subscription.
For admin, they can cancel subscription from backend subscription list.

    Kiran
