    Ill try again here:

Listing Title Tags are <h3>’s. Proper SEO headings calls for <h2>’s

Let’s skip talking about SEO. We could be here for days. I just payed $200 not realizing the Geodirectory plugin does not offer proper semantic headings for SEO. Not happy about this.
I’ve made it too far to bail now. Please take the time to help me. I try not to ask much.

    Specs:

    • Geodirectory plugin
    • Directory starter
    • Supreme theme
My theme is pretty much default nothing fancy (out of the box)….

    Here’s where I’m at

    Issue #1

To fix this I created a folder named “geodirectory” in my child theme. I’ve copied: listing-listview.php and widget-listing-listview.php to that folder.

I started with wanting to fix the listing page. In listing-listview.php I edited lines 309 and 321. I changed the tags from <h3> to <h2>. That worked, but it’s created a few other problems. On the details page, I’m not using tabs. So at the bottom of listings my related places titles are now <h2> tags. I don’t want <h2> tags on the related listings on the listings pages. I was happy with <h3> title tags.

Hope this makes since. There has to be a way to accomplish this. Please help me out.

    Issue #2

Same thing with the front page. My listings on the front page are being outputted by the popular plugin (default). These titles should be <h2>’s also.

So to achieve this as mentioned above. I have already copied “widget-listing-listview.php” to the new geodirectory folder in the child them. I edited this file on lines 179 and 185. I changed the <h3> tags to <h2> That worked also, but I don’t want all widgets in the sidebar to have <h2> title tags. I was happy with all titles in side bar as <h3> tags.

    Here’s what I was wanting:

I want <h2> listing titles on front page, listing, search etc… everywhere but in the sidebars…

Is there a functions to do what I’m trying to achieve. I’m so damn close. I just need a little help from the guys who made the plugin.

Please don’t say I need to hire a developer. Have already ran all this by another senior developer and we both agreed this should be plugin support.

This should be STANDARD. I’ve studied technical SEO and for the last 7 years.
    You do not skip from an <h1> </h1> to a <h3> </h3>.

    Conclusion

Very happy with Geodirectory, I want to get these last things right before I launch the website. This is all that’s holding me up.

I don’t mind letting you guys login. Whatever you need. Would love to get this right.

    Hi Jason,

You will find we are always happy to help with things like this 🙂

I had a quick look into it and it seems it would all work perfect apart from the homepage if we just changed the listing-listview.php to h2, but that would not work perfect for all, so i think the best solution is to make listing-listview.php h2 and set the other one to h3 but give an option in the widget/shortcode to force use h2.

If you have any suggestions or inputs before i start work on this please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

    Hi Jason,

I planned to work on this today but i had too much on, likely i’ll work on this tomorrow and if so i’ll push it to your site.

As for your messages above, i don’t think its a ALL STOP issue, it will be resolved in a few days at most.

    Thanks,

    Stiofan

Thank you buddy, the silence was killing me. Bahahahaha, I thank you for your time. Any way I can pay you guys. Do you have a donate button. I want to pay. I want to pay people who help me. Especially in tough stressful times.

Very happy ad very pleased with your response. I can only imagine how busy you guys are. that’s why I was definitely good with paying extra for the help. you guys probably have 1000s of clients.

Never give up, you have something good here with Geodirectory. Keep up the good work.

Please check now, there is also a setting in the widget to set it to h3/h2.

No need for extra payment, just try and keep your posts on point, that will be reward enough 🙂

    Thanks,

    Stiofan
