wp easy (!?) updates

    Hi,

    I am trying to install wp easy updates. It is not easy! Firstly I couldn’t find a plugin with that name when I searched the wp plugin directory. Then, I downloaded the plugin from the site you link to in the message pop-up in plugins page. The readme.txt doc says:

    Automatic installation is the easiest option. To do an automatic install log in to your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.

    In the search field type Easy External Updates and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found the plugin you install it by simply clicking Install Now.

    I can’t find that plugin when I search!

    Please advise?

    (I rarely, if ever, upload plugins manually, so am not practiced in the steps to do so – hence my looking for an auto-install rather than have to spend time working out how to do it and risking messing it up) – hoping it is simply a case of being told the correct name

    I’m sorry, but wordpress.org refuses to host plugins that deal with auto updates because the plugin must connect to another server to perform the auto updates.

    The only choice we had was to host it ourselves.

    You just need to download it and install it from plugins > add new > upload
