    Greetings,

    I read through this forum and found all the posts about WP Engine. Thought I’d at least query whether anything had been worked out with their Varnish caching and the SESSION’s issue.

    Are you still recommending that WP Engine does not properly support geo plugin’s necessary SESSION variables and as such find another hosting provider?

    Hi,

    yes basically it doesn’t work with the MultiLocation addon installed unless you disable varnish on all pages that use SESSIONS (basically the entire directory).

    I’ve recently got varnish running a found that because sessions are always enabled, it’s not actually caching anything.

    Is there scope to change how sessions are handled so that they’re only enabled when actually needed? e.g. login screen, add/edit listings etc

    Hi,

    locations are handled with sessions.

    We are not really compatible with Varnish…

    I’ve done a little digging around the forum.

    Am I right in thinking that I’m not using locations or geolocation, that I safely ignore sessions?

    Would this affect the wordpress login and adding/editing listings?

    Hi,

    that is correct, if you are not using multilocation and geolocation, sessions are not taken into consideration.

    Login uses a regular Cookie, same as used by wordpress login interface and add/editing listing shouldn’t be affected at all.

    Is this going to be fixed?? WPengine is a great service and also they have a great support – maybe there is a way to solve the problem??? I’d love to use both GD and WPengine

    HI,

    you can use wpengine without multilocation addon. Or with the multilocation addon, but with varnish turned off.
