Ok. So using Open Office csv import worked. Question — Importing data, do I need to have all columns populated with data for the import to work?

Also, do the columns on import have to be in the same order as the export template came in? Or can I change the order? The files that I’m importing are in a different order than the template?

    Hi merileads,

Thanks for your post. Yes, you need to have the columns in the same order. Please refer to the import procedure here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/geodirectory/settings/import-export/#recommended that explains more about this.

    Hi merileads,

Thanks for your reply. You can refer to the mandatory fields as explained here https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs/core-export/#import

    1 / 6 item(s) ignored due to already exists.

5 / 6 item(s) could not be added due to blank title/invalid post type/invalid characters used in data.

    Hi merileads,

Thanks for your reply. If you don’t need a physical location for your listing, enable this “Disable physical location?” https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/places/general/#settings

That screen isn’t in the version I have, which I installed a few days ago. There is no Disable Physical Location box to check

It’s true, you would need to add the Custom Post Type addon for that option.

For the free plugin yes your locations will need an address in the default location.

Add a test listing to see how it is saved with required fields.

Why is this so difficult to import? I’ve tried several directory plugins and this is by far the most difficult.

    Hi merileads,

Thanks for your reply. It’s not that difficult. It’s just that you’re using the free “limited” version of the plugin. To import listings without a physical address, you’ll need to purchase the “Custom Post Type addon” https://wpgeodirectory.com/docs-v2/addons/custom-post-types/ . If not, follow the instructions that I’ve shared here https://wpgeodirectory.com/support/topic/imports/#post-492865 to import it.
