Hi Stiofan,
I am a little confused – all add-ons appear to have new licenses and have been updated: where do I remove old licenses from?
Thanks,
AdrianHi Alex,
when you say you activated it with your key, do you mean a different key to mine, which should have activated it? (obviously, using another account’s key is not viable for me keeping my add-ons up to date).
In any case, thanks for passing this on – I would like to have all add-ons up to date – and not to have similar problems every time an add-on update is released.
I have left caching off on WP Super Cache until this is resolved.
thanks,
AdrianHi Alex,
I have turned caching off and refreshed plugin pages.
Advanced Search is still refusing to activate with the license that is in my members area (I get the pop-up message again: ““License key is invalid””).
I also tried updating another of the add-ons (Buddypress Integration) and had the same problem – message: “Update Failed: Download failed. Unauthorized”
So I still have 8 add-ons not updating and license issues. Can you please have another look?
Thanks,
AdrianThis reply has been marked as private.Hello,
following my recent subscription renewal (see above) the current add-on updates are not working – I get message “Update Failed: Download failed. Unauthorized”
I just tried deactivating one add-on (Advanced Search Filters) and copying and pasting the current license key in case it had changed (the visible part looked the same but I thought thi might be worth a try), this will not now activate, instead coming up with the pop-up message “Licence key is invalid”.
So currently I have 8 add-ons that I cannot update.
(Wordfence tells me that a new version of WP Easy Updates, 1.1.4, is available, but the new version doesn’t appear as an update in plugin manager).

I certainly have WP Easy Updates plugin installed/activated – but am not sure if I activated all licenses through it – I had a membership before Easy Updates was launched (I think!).
Anyway, I have deactivated and reactivated Easy Updates and the licenses activated for the plugins appear same as listed in ‘Your Account’ of GD website. So all looks ok – guess I will find out when add-ons are next updated!
Thanks,
AdrianYes,
though it is a shame – because try-catch lowered the requests from 37 to low 20s and got load speed under a second for front page – no good if it breaks the map when I nav to directory though!
It is the ‘Add try-catch wrapping’ that is breaking my map, so I have disabled it (contrary to the GD docs). That is a shame – it was vastly improving home page load speed (my home page does not have a map).
…ah, it wasn’t that simple. Although working fine when logged in, something in Automptmize was stopping map loading for visitors (I have now enabled the ‘Also optimize for logged-in users?’ so that I can spot problems developing because of Autoptimize settings while I am logged in!)
I have got map working now, though page load is slower – I am having to play with Autoptimize settings to get best performance while not breaking map – I don’t think the settings for Autoptimize in GD documentation work for me!
Thanks Alex,
The Good News:
now that the Autoptimize docs have been updated it is a lot clearer what needs to be set – although there are a few minor differences with the settings on my (up to date) version of Autoptimize: in my version, there is an option at the bottom ‘Also optimize for logged-in users?’, which I left disabled, and ‘Remove Google Fonts’ is on a separate tab ‘Extras’, which also includes options ‘Remove Emojis’ and ‘Remove Query Strings From Static Resources’, which I have both enabled.
With those current settings and WP Super Cache (and enabling browser caching in .htaccess) I have got a Pingdom score of 92 for my home page (which doesn’t load the GD map) and load times of under 1 sec. Very happy with that!
The Less Good News:
The original error page appears with CDN enabled in WP Super Cache. Given performance without CDN I think I will cancel my CDN until such time as I work on global conquest – it just seems to add a layer of complexity that I don’t need for little gain.
Thanks,

Ok, thanks Guust – I have made a new category ‘Blog’ and assigned all my blog posts to that category. Now page loopyfood.net/category/blog/ lists all my blog posts – with the GD Blog Listing widget area – result! (though I still think it is confusing calling the widget area ‘GD Blog Listings’ when the WP created blog listing page doesn’t display it! – I guess we can agree to disagree on that).
Now I just want to play around with the title at the top of the page. Currently it reads: ‘Posts Categorized: Blog’. If I want to edit this text (the ‘Posts Categorized:’ bit) is that a Translation file that I need to change (if so, which one) or another file to edit?
Adrian
I can see using Inspector that it is the html
<h1 class="archive-title h2"> <span> Posts Categorized: </span> Blog</h1>
that I need to change (well, the bit in the span tags) – but I don’t know how/where to do that – any ideas?
