… one thing – I’ve put on some test ratings/reviews and noticed that the rating stars only come out as purple (I copied your colour scheme from the video!) on the search results page, and not on the main map pop-up bubble or full listing page – is this as it’s meant to work (i.e., just to differentiate featured listings on search results?)
Ah – there’s always another setting somewhere else that gets overlooked!
I’ll wait for next release for fixing the moderation quirk. I’m going to delete the reviews posted as comments now and start with a clean slate for rated reviews.

I have just activated ratings and tried to add a test review to another listing, but the star-rating bit (overall rating) does not appear on the review form? I’m assuming that the overall rating is set up to work as default without having to add images? (I’ve changed the text on one of the labels)
Yes, all addonsup to date (I’m sure I copied all the lisence keys correctly). Here is a screenshot of the unmoderated comment that is visible (it’s the one you replied to with your test reply!) It says at the top: Your comment is awaiting moderation.:

no, don’t spend time on the count of comments just for my site – I’ll set up a rating and see how that goes. If I decide I really don’t want ratings at some point in the future I’ll get back to you to.

re #1,2 – that’s a shame as I wanted to avoid having ratings as I think they can be used inappropriately – however, I’ll set them up and see how it goes;
re#3 – the box wasn’t there when I had just a couple of reviews – but it is now, so great;
re#4 – look at the link that you just supplied me in #6 to see this!;
re:#5 – ok – I’ll set time aside to look at translations soon!;

Maybe this will sort itself out when I set up a rating and it is registered as a review rather than a comment – we’ll see.

I did have a go at doing it myself, using the ‘inspect element’ in Firefox – because I am not a seasoned developer (i.e., didn’t really know what I was doing!) I didn’t copy the full description, just the .geodir-map-posttype-list ul.place-list – the second part was on the next line with a gap and something else to the right of the first snippet (I didn’t realise there were two columns to what I was looking at). So my experiment failed!
Anyway, thanks for sorting it – I will experiment more thoroughly next time now that I am a little better informed! 🙂

OK – I have gotten to the bottom of this – it may be of use to anyone else starting out with Hidden (and probably private and public) Buddypress Groups and bbPress forums:
My problems were due to a combination of 3 things: I had nested my forums into parent/child categories; I had an insufficient grasp of the Status and Visibility settings for forums, and how these are affected by nesting forums/categories; I hadn’t realised that these settings have different implications for hidden forum visibility depending on the route taken to access them (via your hidden groups or via the forums pages).
This is what I have found work when nesting forums, with particular reference to hidden forums:
1. When nesting forums/categories within other forums/categories (see here) the higher level categories/forums (i.e. ‘parents’) need to be set to Status: Open to have the lower levels function ok (the higher levels in my hierarchy are now Public Open Category).
2. Hidden forums that are created along with hidden groups can be seen and used via the Groups page (My Groups) and the forum tab within the group (when logged in).
3.The same hidden forums cannot be seen or accessed via the forums page (list of all forums on the site) even in the place where they have been moved in the backend forums page – although the topics and posts counts are shown there at the higher levels of nested forums.I hope this might save some time for others experimenting with Groups and Forums within GD set-ups – and maybe elsewhere!
OK, I think I may have this sorted – after a little looking around on the web I think it may be something to do with the way I had set up the categories and forums on my site (and typing out my original post has helped me clarify what is going on) … still experimenting and will report back…
