Including fixing the absent line in the advanced search box (see previous screenshot)? That is a design/formatting error in the core plugin and I hope you guys would be willing to fix this at least? Kor already fixed the positioning for me.

I’ll be doing a bunch more testing in the coming days and weeks so I’ll let you know if there are any unintended consequences or problems that come up, but it seems to work perfectly at first glance.

Thanks for your reply. I absolutely understand this is Google’s issue not geodirectory’s. I’m just hoping we can use the geodirectory system to find a workaround.

London has 32 boroughs – that how it’s administered and governed. Kingston and Surbiton is in the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames, which is a borough of London. Teddington is in the Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, also a London borough. All these areas have representatives in the London Assembly and are served by the Metropolitan police, which only serves London. Also, having lived in all these places myself, in common local understanding they are seen as part of London (the city).

There is some confusion because, due to historical reasons and the organic growth of London, these places used to be independent. Some of them still have unusual ‘dual status’, so I think parts of Surbiton might also be within the county of Surrey as well as being in London.

But the point is, Londoners know these areas are in London, and when they search ‘London’ they’re going to expect them to come up. I hope that most people will just search for the specific area, but if they do then they’re going to be confused that some of these places are listed as cities. Surbiton is by no definition a city. Also, no one’s going to know to search for ‘Greater London’. In common conversation, ‘London’ is used to mean ‘Greater London’.

Anyway, I’m hoping we can find a fix. I understand I may need to get a developer to help me with this, but it would be useful to know what’s possible. So, for example, would it be possible for geodirectory to automatically merge all of these areas with London (providing a define which areas in advance) every time someone submits a listing, and turn them into neighbourhoods? That would turn my manual fix into an automatic fix, which presumably would be sufficient.

Alternatively, is it possible for me to give London (the city) the same radius as Greater London (the region), or to somehow ‘trick’ geodirectory into actually searching in Greater London (the region) whenever someone clicks London (the city)?

Or something else I haven’t thought of?
