Same location is good but not exactly what I need, as the relevant towns (would figure as cities I assume) could be pretty close to each other. But I see there’s an option for sorting based on distance, so I guess it should not be too difficult to implement (and probably relevant for many users)? Any guidance possible on this?
Thanks Stiofan, that did the trick.
Regards,
AshokI would appreciate your guidance on how to get rid of any infos/data from the old installation and bypass the converter, if possible? (that was a question, I would have done so already if I could – tried deleting plugins and reinstalling, which did not work). I urgently need this to be sorted, hence request you to also keep the topic open with your developers.

Hi, I am facing the same issue ‘GeoDirectory data update – Your database is being updated in the background. Taking a while? Click here to run it now.’, have been getting this message since days. As I am just starting work on a new site, I don’t really need anything to be carried over from the previous installation. Will deinstalling and then directly reinstalling V2 help?
Thanks!Yes, I am referring to the CPT add on. As I understand, if I wish to use different data for different categories (say, some entries with complete address, contact details etc, others perhaps with only title, description, foto, I would need to use the CPT add on, right?
In that case, how will the details be displayed, assuming I’m using the supreme directory theme? We wouldn’t want to have empty/irrelevant fields displayed… it’s the details page that would control the display of the listing info, right? I could not find any info on whether this would need to be manually customised for CPT…
(had gone through the documentation, but couldn’t find an answer there)
ok thanks, I’ve figured it out I think – in my case, it’s also displaying the archive page without the ‘supreme-directory’ part (goaholiday.info/places/attractions). Just wanted to confirm, for subcategories there are no archive pages?
Thanks, what would be the format for the url of the archive pages? Is this the format: “https://www.abc.com/?gd_placecategory=feature”?
–> is there any way to achieve this kind of a link structure “https://www.abc.com/feature.html”?
To display only selected categories and in some cases subcategories, the Popular Categories widget does not seem to do the trick for me. Is there any other way to extract and display the number of entries per category/subcategory?
April 30, 2018 at 8:21 am in reply to: Place category schema – are these documented somewhere? #428441Hi,
thanks for the quick response – maybe better if I outline what I intend to do;
1) a number of different categories are required, data will differ between the categories – am trying to find out if this will require custom post types?
2) I would like to display links to specific categories and/or subcategories (selected, not necessarily all – the numbers are manageable number, so this does not need to happen automatically) on the homepage (right now, only way I see to do this is using a link like https://www.abc.com/?gd_placecategory=feature, although the url does not look very attractive; better would be something like https://www.abc.com/feature.html; is there any way to achieve this kind of a link structure?). I would like to display the number of entries in the category next to the link.
3) Similarly, I would like to be able to display a clickable list of all subcategories of a given category.
