you could try the GD Listings Shortcode which allows sorting A-Z:

Images and fields can be removed with CSS, to leave the listing title and may a category.
Ah! Yes! Category should be left as a required field for all listings including events.
Problem solved?
To adjust which custom fields appear on listings and detail page tabs, visit the custom fields settings for each page and adjust the values in the field “Show in what locations” for each custom field.

I cannot see anything obvious when I check the site.
Sometimes this can be an issue with lat/lon coordinates of your locations.
Please check your locations and your listings (places) to make sure they all have rational coordinates and that they are in the correct format.
If you can’t see anything wrong with the coordinates, please make a private reply and include the following information so we can take a look.

From over here, looking at Pat O’Brien’s, that listing appears to have an invalid status of ‘future’.
Try updating that to ‘draft’ so GD’s importer is given permission to overwrite a known status (‘draft’) during the update/import.

all slugs in WP must be unique. It looks like the category slugs are conflicting with the location slugs form the multilocations addon.
That is not usually possible, because locations have priority, and so the category slugs should have a “-1” after them, and they do. ex.http://www.mysite.com/places/peru-1/cusco/ocongate/peru/
It is not recommend to use categories for locations. Geodirectory will automatically create pages for each country, and you could create a list of links to point to those pages or use widget that will make a list for you. If categories are used, then a -1 will be added.
At this time the way to fix this is to restore the category slugs. I did that for peru by adding a -1 so the example URL you shared would be http://www.mysite.com/places/peru-1/
If you want to remove the “-1” and “1-1” you can use the better-search-replace plugin from WordPress.org
Please install the email log plugin to track which emails are being created by WordPress.

About 95% of email related issues, if the email is created but you are not receiving it, these are host related.
If you are bypassing your host with other plugins like SMTP you will need to contact either your host or the provider of the plugins.
We can help with an issue where, if email log is installed, and for example a Send Enquiry email is not being created, we can find the bug in Geodirectory.
