in the future please post V2 related topics to the appropriate V2 subforum.
GDV2 use pages and page templates with design elements.
You will want to adjust the design elements on the location page to use gd_business, like, the map. On the map you want to choose type archive, then set it for gd_business, and remove the post type selector.
for the gd_categories element, you will want to choose to sort A-Z.

We are considering lots of improvements for later versions and we will put that on the list. We have some big changes in mind for the image handling in general.
I just tested registration and adding a listing and it seems to be sending the right emails.
There are other WP SMTP plugins, I recommend you try a different one of the issue comes back.

How do you want to change the favorite button? The review button?
Usually overrides are done with filters and hooks and actions.
You can try our codex or search our forum for ‘favorite hook’ for examples:
