Hi there – jumping on this topic rather than opening my own, but happy to do so if needed.
Is there any way to define the Label and value for these options?
E.g. in the aboe example, the user would choose from:
Classic
Skate
BackcountryBut in the database they may be stored as:
classic
skate
back-countryThanks,
Emlyn
Hi Kiran,
Apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I’ve implemented the code and it seems to work great 🙂
Thank you very much for this,
Kind regards,
Emlyn
Thanks Alex – appreciate it.

Hi Alex,
I quote my original post:
All of the custom fields are numbers, which means I don’t want to translate Places, or store the information twice. However I would like a language switcher to be visible on the CPT to switch UI strings (translated in PO/MO), but show the same information.
I’d appreciate if you could take the time to flesh out your answers a bit more.
Are you saying that for what I need, it is *essential* to make the listings translatable?
Is there *any* way to not have the data stored twice, and to have the language switcher display on the pages?
Here’s another example of what I am looking for:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/display-language-switcher-even-on-non-translated-cpt-pages/Hi Alex,
Sorry, can I press you for an answer to the question:
Do I need an additional plugin to make multilingual possible?
As to your suggestions re: WPML, I don’t think that is feasible. The language switcher needs to be visible at all times. If a user is on a listing, and hits the language switcher, then it should direct the user to the same page in a different language. The header and footer and all other strings will translate, but display the same content (i.e. not a translation – we do not want any duplicate data stored).
A similar request can be seen here:

Hi Kiran,
That’s great – so simple! That’s fixed that problem, but unfortunately raised another one.
I will investigate to see if there’s something I can figure out but may be back in touch.
Many thanks,
Emlyn
Thanks Alex!

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the reply.
Can I confirm – my aim is not to output all the care homes onto the page, but to get all the imformation, calculate some statistics, and to store in a CPT as a snapshot for reporting purposes.
I have had a look at the documentation and can only find what you’re referring to as shortcodes – are they also available as functions…?
Do you have a link to the docs for those to see if they would work for my use case?
Many thanks,
Emlyn
Thanks Kor!
