    Hi Jeff,

I think I’m halfway to solving the issue I mentioned in my last reply but could use some help.

I tried adding new columns to the GD CSV export file to represent the fields in your Business Hours plugin.

See my attachment where I added the following column headers. I entered hours formatted the exact same way in all columns, but when I import my CSV file it only fills in some of the business hour fields. Specifically, it marks Sat and Sun as “open all day” even though I added business hours the same way as I did for other days. For Monday both “open” and “close” hours imported properly, and for the rest of weekdays the “open” field is blank but the “close” field imported properly.

Very grateful if you know what I need to do differently.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the answers, Jeff!

I can do the conversions myself with Excel formulas. Is there a way I can update them by uploading a CSV file though?

Hi Jeff (or GD Support if you have answers),

I’ve also had difficulty contacting Business Hours support. I have 2 questions but only the first is really urgent.

    1. (urgent) Is there a way to import/export “Business Hours” so that I can more quickly convert my GD “Business Times” field to the new “Business Hours” field, using CSV? It’s not practical to go through 300+ listings and manually enter all hours for each one…

    2. Jeff, is there any plan to make this plug-in compatible with GD Advanced Search so that users can search based on “Open Now” in your plug-in?

    Many thanks!

    Frank

Thanks for the tip, Stiofan. We’ll explore that option for sure!

Hi Paolo (or other GD support),

I have a similar question. I’d like to have a “backend description” custom field that doesn’t appear on business listings but that DOES work for search results. In this field, we would put a list of words like alternative spellings, associated keywords, etc. so that if someone misspells what they are looking for or uses a different word for it, they can still find the same result.

Paolo, do you have any idea if a plugin like this would be compatible with GD and if I could use it to accomplish my goal? Commenting here instead of a new post cause if it’s compatible, this plugin says it can also search author fields as the other member wanted.

    Thanks!

Stiofan probably has the most wise advise for this, but when we started using GD I was using Excel to mass import and didn’t have issues. The only thing was we had to include coordinates as well as addresses, but we used this tool to add all coordinates to the CSV file before uploading

Now we use Social Importer anyways though because it’s far superior and easier to get info and pics. I often do mass-edits in CSV docs though and have never had issues.

    Cheers

Can’t find a way to delete my post, but we resolved it.

Here is what we did for anyone else who has the same question and finds this post (using Kleo theme, which allows us to have unique header code for each page, but has removed the GD header widget area).

Added this to the header script wherever we wanted to add the search bar:

    <div style="margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;width: 83%;">
    [do_widget id=geodir_advance_search-1]
    </div>

That worked great, Giri! Your code also fixed the original formatting issue that Guust helped with so I’ve just kept your one line of code and now multi-ratings are collapsed by default, and when they are expanded they are properly formatted.

    Cheers!

    Hi Giri,

I don’t think that’s quite it. I removed Guust’s CSS code now and multiratings are still expanded by default – the only difference is that it has the original issue of poor formatting for multiratings (Guust’s code fixes this).

What I want to accomplish is to have the multiratings collapsed by default as what happens when you click “More” now.

Following-up on my last post, please let me know if there’s an easy way to collapse the multi-ratings by default. They take up quite a bit of room and we can’t find a way to make them look that nice with our theme.

    Thanks

You’re my hero, Guust! Always impressed with the GD team’s quick and accurate replies.

If we wanted Multi-ratings to be collapsed by default (like what happens when you click “more” on this page) – can we do that through CSS as well?

We’re doing a huge revamp and theme-change on our site this week so I apologize for all the questions so far – but it’ll be over soon enough.

    Thanks!

Actually, don’t worry about it. I think we’re over-complicating – we can just use tags to create these lists.

    Thanks Guust!

Thanks Guust. We already use GD Categories to sort businesses by type (eg. restaurants, cafes, stores), so we could only do it that way if there’s a way we can a 2nd set of backend categories to use with that shortcode?

Or, ideally, can I create a custom multi-select field and use that in the Popular Post shortcode? Eg. in this field we would say if a business belongs to “group1″,”group2″,”group3” (admin-only field). Then we would just need to be able to specify this field in the shortcode.

Like in this example shortcode below, could we replace “category=3″ with a custom parameter like newfield=”group1”?

    [gd_popular_post_view category=3 layout=5 add_location_filter=true character_count=0 show_featured_only=true]

If that is impossible – is there a URL we could use to show a list of businesses under a certain custom field “group”?

    Thanks
