There is no need to add your membership key anywhere.
I do not understand what you mean with “Places is showing a ? mark in the dashboard and will not let me add or modify any of my places”.

You should not use the Add Listing page as your Posts page at WP settings > Reading > Your homepage displays > Posts page: fixed
You need to enable registration at WP Settings > General > Anyone can register: Fixed
