Yes, most videos are getting a bit old now, GD has improved a lot since those videos.
Directory starter is only a theme, and you can basically use any theme, but the starter theme is a free theme developed specifically by GD for GD.

Which files exactly have you changed that created the error? functions.php of the child theme only?

@joy the only thing you can do at this time is to add every location into your database which will mean a lot of visitors will be presented with location pages without any listings.

* no pricing package or Listing Claims columns like claimed, package_id, alive_days, expire_date
* no data in post_address, post_city and post_region, post_latitude and post_longitude
* you are not using neighborhoods so should not have neighborhood columns
* geodir_special_offers, linked_cpt_ID and geodir_Club_Introduction columns are missing

I suggest you add at least one place from the frontend, and then export the file. That will give you the correctly structured CSV file.
