Swapping theme does not delete any listings you had before, and dummy data will only load if you have no listings in a CPT and a default location is set.

Have you uploaded a picture called pool.png to the /img/ folder?
Because that is where your CSS code is looking for the image.

The Listings page does not use the popular post widget (that is for location/Home) but uses the WP post settings, and the settings at GD > Events settings > Sorting Options.
Recurring events are treated as separate listings, so that may explain why you see more listings than expected.
