Is there any way to cluster map markers when using the Listing Map?
The problem with having a fixed zoom is that it centers the map on the average of the different locations, so that if there is one that is way off, the map will be in the middle of nowhere. Is there not a way to manually set the view for a region?
Okay, that makes sense about the listings map.

Processor: Intel®Xeon® E5-2640
Speed: 6 Cores (HT) x 2.5 GHz(3.0 GHz Turbo Boost)
RAM: 32 GB DDR3 ECC
Hard-disk space: 2,000 GB (2 x 2,000 GB SATA)
RAID: Software RAID 1It’s not just unable to display map markers for the whole database of listings, but also for “near me” searches and under other circumstances.
How could I ensure that no one can access “/location” since it is linked in the breadcrumbs?
Something else, which I can start as its own thread, is the issue of map markers that are not placed within the correct state. Let’s say almost all markers are in Pennsylvania, but someone accidentally adds a marker that is in Alaska, then the map for Pennsylvania will be zoomed out to show Alaska as well. Of course I could manually go in and fix all these errors, but it is a very large database, so is there any way to make it so “/location/united-states/pennsylvania” is only zoomed in on that state? It would be great if I could manually set the position and zoom for each state (region).
Thanks for your help.
Update: the larger directory has pretty much stopped importing listings at around 430,000. It stalls every few minutes. It is on a dedicated server with lots of RAM and storage. Please advise on how I can go about getting more listings added.
One other thing to note: for both sites, I can upload large CSV files, but if they are over 25k entries or so, when I try to import them, I get an error message saying that they are not valid csv files. They definitely are valid, and once I reduce the number of entries, they import just fine.
With the shared hosting I was using previously, I was able to import 100k entries or so at a time (though it would pause often).
Is there some setting I could/should change on my server/database to fix this?
Yes, the imported listings are pretty much identical. There are no pictures.
With the fast one, I did not manually create any categories before importing, as they are created automatically, which means I did not upload any place icon images for the categories, like I had done for some of the categories on the slow site. Perhaps that has something to do with it.
Thanks.
Ah, okay. I thought it was for the map marker images themselves.
I have had to restart the import process a few times, but less frequently. I am not sure if having certain other tabs open in my browser could be causing a conflict.
As for speed, it at least doubled. It went from importing less than 1 listing per second, to now doing about 2 listings per second.
I think you are on to something. I disabled the Social Importer plugin and now the CSV import seems to be working much faster.
Even with an increased RAM limit, the import will stall after running successfully for a few minutes or so. Clicking the “Import data now” button can get things going again, but it will usually just stop again in a few minutes. The hosting company says they are not getting any errors, so they don’t know if the problem is on your end. Do you have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it? Thanks.
FYI – I got the hosting company to temporarily raise the RAM limit. I uploaded a 5mb file and the import started correctly, but stopped 2% of the way through. I tried clicking the “Import data now” button again, but it would only display the “processing..” status briefly with nothing actually happening.
I have been dealing with the hosting company and it seems that the RAM limit (not the timeout limit) could be what was stopping the import from working correctly.
